The Refurbishment Work and Extension to St. Mary’s Church in Kilkenny commenced on site in February 2015.

The Church is over 800 years old and is a national monument so all works have been very carefully planned out during the extensive design process. The project seeks to refurbish the existing structure and extend two areas to provide a new public museum which will form a central part of Kilkenny’s Medieval Mile.

The graveyard at St. Mary’s is of huge historical significance and archaeological monitoring, recording and reporting will form a huge part of the works which will be carried out on the site. The craftsmen on this project will have an unique opportunity to help restore a truly historic piece of Ireland’s heritage.

Brendan Merry &Partners are delighted to be working on another significant conservation project with McCullough Mulvin Architects and the works will be carried out by Duggan Brothers Contractors over the next 18 months.
